Main Task Storyboard Animatic.

Music copyright free - Created by Kirsty Clark.

We created our Storyboard Animatic to get a rough idea of how our finished film could look. We could also get an idea of how long our opening for the film would be (roughly 3.00 minutes) and the type of shots we could use to best portray the story.
The animatic allows us to see if our story, when filmed, will be visually engaging and gathers pace to the storyline. We can also use the animatic to visualise our ideas and consider the types of conventions we are using. The animatic creates a visual mock up of the storyboard to consider camera shots and in some ways editing.

Commentary

We begin with a black screen and the sound of a screeching car, as an audience we are unaware as to what the situation is.
Next we see a Boy from a crane/high angle shot. He wakes suddenly to the screech as if it was part of a dream - we will use a sound bridge to link the previous scene to this one.
The next shot is a centered mid/long shot showing the Boy gradually waking fully.
Followed by a similar shot of him holding a phone - creating a focal point.
We then see an over the shoulder shot of the character looking at his phone we see the picture and begin to make a link to his photo on the background.
Next we see an eye level shot panning to show the character leave his room, and again when he returns in a similar way.
The character is back in shot and the camera slightly zooms to focus on a teddy. At this point titles will be added for the actors name.
The next shot shows the character walking down stairs and cut from his back to his front to show his journey.
The process is repeated but this time with the Girl character, she also gets up and gets dressed - we see the same teddy in her wardrobe and as an audience make the link between them. There is also a photo of the couple which links that to the Boys phone background.
We now see both characters leave with split screen editing and we see them walk from different angles to the shops at different time periods.
The Boy and Girl both emerge from the shops with the items they brought for both the camera will pan and follow them.
Both characters cross the road but the Boy is more aware of his surroundings, we see the Girl drinking and being carless along the road side followed by headlights and white fills the screen. We will add a faint heartbeat sound to add to the suspense.
We see that the Boy is going to a grave and quickly establish a connection between the Girl dying and her grave stone. The Boy places the flowers and teddy on her grave.
The scene finishes by fading to black after zooming in on the flowers and teddy, we will then add a title saying 2 years earlier where the film will fully begin.
